하노이를 기반으로 활동하는 루시아 팜은 2D 및 3D 일러스트레이션 부터 에디토리얼 디자인, 시네마틱 애니메이션에 이르기까지 폭넓은 스펙트럼을 지닌 디지털 아티스트이다. 그녀는 모국 베트남의 문화적·지리적 뿌리와의 강력한 유대감을 바탕으로 전통의 아름다움을 현대적인 시각 형식으로 재해석한 작업 세계를 구축해 왔다. 1980년대 이후의 포스트모더니즘 미학과 일본 네오 팝의 영향을 받은 그녀의 작업은 강렬하고 선명한 대비의 색채, 맥시멀리즘적 디테일, 그리고 대칭적 구성과 유기적 곡선 패턴이 특징이다. 특히 베트남의 전통 문양, 아오자이의 실루엣, 하노이의 도시적 활기 등 로컬의 시각 요소는 화면 속 여성 서사와 어우러져 경쾌하고 화려하며, 생동감 넘치는 분위기를 형성한다.

 

베트남 하노이 산업미술대학에서 그래픽 디자인 전공으로 학사를 취득한 루시아는 리안 청의 저서 『화목란』(SendPoints, 2023)의 일러스트레이션을 담당했다. 애플, 메타, 구글, 스포티파이, 화웨이, 조니워커 등 글로벌 기업과 폭넓게 협업했으며, 『더 뉴요커』, 『바이스』, 『블룸버그 비즈니스위크』, 『포브스』, 『더 가디언』, 『하버드 비즈니스 리뷰』 등 권위 있는 매체에 작품이 소개되었다. 2025년에는 콜드플레이의 앨범 <문 뮤직>(2025)의 수록곡인 <주피터> 뮤직비디오와 월드 투어 비주얼 작업에 참여했다. 현재 그녀는 문구 및 기프트 브랜드 ‘니니 시스템’을 설립·운영하며, 일러스트레이션 작업을 라이프스타일 영역으로 확장하는 등 산업과 예술이 교차하는 분야에서 활발한 활동을 이어오고 있다.

 

Based in Hanoi, Lucia Pham is a digital artist with an expansive spectrum ranging from 2D and 3D illustration to editorial design and cinematic animation. Driven by a profound bond with the cultural and geographical roots of her homeland Vietnam, she has constructed an artistic world that reinterprets the beauty of tradition into contemporary visual forms. Influenced by postmodern aesthetics and Japanese Neo pop since the 1980s, her work features vivid and striking color contrasts, maximalist details, symmetrical compositions, and organic curved patterns, In particular, local visual elements such as traditional Vietnamese patterns, the silhouette of the Áo dài, and the urban vitality of Hanoi blend with female narratives on screen to form an atmosphere that is playful, ornate, and exuberant.

 

Lucia, who earned a BA in Graphic Design from the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts in Vietnam, was in charge of the illustrations for the book Hua Mulan (SendPoints, 2023) by Lian Cheng. She has collaborated extensively with global brands such as Apple, Meta, Google, Spotify, Huawei, and Johnnie Walker, and her work has been featured in prestigious magazines including The New Yorker, Vice, Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes, The Guardian, and Harvard Business Review. In 2025, she participated in the music video for “JUPiTER” from Moon Music by Coldplay, as well as in visual works for the band’s world tour. Currently, she founded and operates the stationery and gift brand “NINI SYSTEM,” continuing her prolific work in fields where industry and art intersect, such as expanding her illustration work into the lifestyle domain.

성경의 ‘7대 죄악’이라는 어두운 상징에서 영감을 받은 이 애니메이션은 화려한 상류 사회의 파티가 비극적인 살인 사건으로 변모하는 혼돈의 순간을 추적한다. 루시아 팜 특유의 경쾌한 색채 및 풍부한 시각적 요소를 담아내며, 작품은 매 프레임을 구성하는 하나의 질문으로 서사를 전개한다. 오프닝 장면과 엔딩 크레딧은 동일한 물음을 반복한다. “누가 살인자인가?”

 

작가는 진실에 대한 암시 장치들을 장면 곳곳에 배치하며 관객의 추론을 자극하지만, 외려 상충하는 증거들은 사건의 실체를 더욱 모호하게 만든다. 그녀는 탐욕과 폭식의 건배사 속에 은밀히 숨겨진 치밀한 독살의 희생자였을까? 아니면 어둠 속에서 분출된 분노의 결과, 즉 갑작스럽고 절박한 칼부림의 피해자였을까? 애니메이션이 초대 손님들의 ‘죄악’을 하나씩 들춰내며 인간의 본성을 탐색하는 과정에서 목격자와 가해자 사이의 경계는 점차 흐려진다. 범인의 실체는 끝내 규명되지 않은 채, 작품은 여운을 남기며 마무리된다.

 

Who Is The Killer, 2024

 

Inspired by the dark symbolism of the “Seven Deadly Sins,” this animation traces the chaotic moment in which a high society party descends into a tragic murder. Incorporating Lucia Pham’s signature vibrant palette and exuberant visual elements, the narrative unfolds through a single question that structures every frame. Both the opening scene and the closing credits return to the same haunting inquiry: “Who is the killer?”

 

The artist places suggestive devices that hint at the truth throughout the scenes, prompting the viewer’s own speculation; yet the conflicting nature of the evidence ultimately renders the reality of the incident even more ambiguous. Was she the victim of a calculated poisoning, concealed within a toast to greed or gluttony? Or was it a more visceral act of wrath—a sudden, desperate stabbing in the dark? As the animation unearths the “sins” of each quest and explores the depths of human nature, the line between witness and murderer blurs. Ultimately, the identity of the killer remains unresolved, leaving behind a lingering resonance.
