Based in the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia, Nicholas Dallwitz is a digital creator who organically deconstructs the boundaries between analog and digital media, spanning drawing, painting, photography, video, electronic music, and AI art. His social media pseudonym “Florigenix” is a synthesis of “Florigen,” a plant hormone that stimulates flowering, and “Nix,” a mythological figure associated with the realms of night, water, and the unconscious.

His practice is deeply rooted in a spirituality in which nature and technology coexist; he defines his work as a communal practice emerging from the encounter between inner and outer worlds—a form of contemporary magic. The artist perceives the world through a unique framework shaped by mystical traditions, psychological paradigms, animism, and quantum physics. He believes that archetypal energies—those of the artist, poet, and shaman—reside within every human being, and understands creativity as an experimental and playful ritual that reconnects one to these energies. Positioning himself as a catalyst for reflection and growth, his work traverses and reconnects the severed boundaries between world and body, ideas and emotions, species, and states of being, thereby seeking to restore relationships lost in modern society and to explore the possibility of ontological healing.

Nicholas Dallwitz holds a Master’s degree in Fine Art and has been active as a member of artist collectives in his hometown of Adelaide, South Australia, where he has operated a creative studio and event space. In addition to his experience in art therapy and mental health, he has also collaborated on media and technology projects with Indigenous communities in Australia.

Families and relations in the forest of Huez, 2026

Families and Kin in the Forest of Huez is a series of moving portraits staged within the fictional luminous forest “Huez,” a virtual environment constructed within the artist’s imagined universe. At the center of this glowing woodland, children and magical hybrid animals stand calmly, meeting the viewer’s gaze as if aware of being observed from beyond the boundaries of their familiar world. These figures—at once mythical and everyday—look outward from the image with quiet attentiveness, acknowledging the presence of an external observer.

The artist’s characteristic subtle expressions of movement and delicate attention to gaze create an atmosphere that is both dreamlike and sensorial. Notably, streams of color, auras, and faint currents of light flow around the bodies of these f igures, revealing an unseen and mysterious ecology of energy that interconnects human and animal, body and landscape. Within this world—suggesting a multispecies ecosystem in which diverse forms of life are intricately entangled—beings coexist within the transcendent domain of the forest, sharing a state of deep rest and quiet equilibrium.

Moving beyond anthropocentric perspectives, the series explores transversal forms of kinship that traverse species, cultures, and dimensions of time and space. In this sense, the work visualizes the practical meaning of “making kin,” a concept proposed by Donna Haraway in her notion of the Chthulucene. Through this reimagined mode of relationality, the artist proposes a potential for ecological solidarity, articulated through a gentle digital language. By further revealing the intelligence and vitality of the earth, the work leads the viewer to sense the forest not as a merely objectified natural landscape, but as a “shared field of presence” where purity, creative transformation, and imagination gently converge.
