타이난에서 촬영된 이 영화는 3년에 걸친 현장 조사와 시각 자료 수집을 기록 방식으로 삼아, 정성공(鄭成功, Koxinga)이 타이난에 정권을 수립한 이후의 역사와 푸젠·차오저우·하카 이주민들이 정착시킨 문화적 풍습 및 생활 양식, 그리고 원시적 숭배와 현대 문명의 복합성과 모순 사이의 관계를 심층적으로 탐구한다.

작품은 시각적 기록, 사건의 추적, 그리고 영상적 재현을 통해 타이난 사회 안에 존재하는 서로 다른 문화 체계들이 이루는 복합적이고 생동적인 생태계를 구축하며, 소설의 장(chapter)과도 같은 구조를 통해 문화 유산과 민속 숭배 사이에 얽혀 있는 관계를 연결해 나간다.

동시에 이 작품은 순수한 시각적 담론과 파편들을 활용하여 단절된 역사적 공백을 메우고자 시도한다. 이를 통해 속세에서 함께 살아가는 인간 성자들의 비전과 갈등을 드러내며, 독특한 지역 생태를 해석하는 다면적 이미지 텍스트를 형성한다. 나아가 복합적 표면 아래에 숨겨진 사회학적 의미를 탐구하고자 한다.

The film, shot in Tainan, takes three years of field research and visual collection as its method of documentation, and undertakes an in-depth study of the history of Koxinga’s government since its establishment in Tainan, the cultural customs and lifestyles implanted by Fujian, Chaozhou, and Hakka immigrants, as well as the relationship between primitive worship and the complexity and contradictions of modern civilization.

Through visual recording, event tracking, and visual presentation, the work constructs a complex and lively ecosystem of different cultural systems within Tainan society. With a structure resembling the chapters of a novel, it connects the intertwined relationship between cultural heritage and popular worship.

At the same time, the film attempts to use pure visual discourse and fragments to piece together fractured historical gaps, revealing the visions and conflicts of mortal saints living together in the secular world. In doing so, it forms a polyhedral image-text that interprets the unique regional ecology while exploring the sociological significance beneath its complex surface.
