Intentions
《Site-seeing: Journeyer》 is an exhibition on the subject of ‘travel’ that is often brought up as a major issue of contemporary society. The exhibition is expected to show what is that the locations want to show travelers or the travelers want to see from the locations, and the point of view to see specific locations. In this exhibition, the travel means to ask about the locations, but not to go for the locations. The exhibition is composed base on the collections of the museum, and works of three artists Minjung Kim, Dyukkyung Wang, Inmi Lee. It suggests us to experience the specific locations and places as ‘a traveller as individuals’ by going through ‘a journey of traveling’ through the time of spiritually healing. At the same time, it takes us to the time of thinking about the phenomenons of the gap occurred by the policies and realities, developments and preservations in local environments.
Content
There is a prevailing tendency of traveling. It has become an issue of the number of traveling has hit the highest point. Many media introduce popular spots to travel and show every steps of the ways to travel on reality TV programs. The consumers get informations of various ways to travel from different media and chose the locations base on the informations, cause high numbers of travelers in introduced major locations.

《Site-Seeing: Journeyer》 was started from the plan to visit specific places and research ‘what do we want to see there, what do they want us to see’. ‘We’ the People chose specific places on purposes of experience and enjoy unique cultures of the places. But the people meet many advertisements first after the arrival at the airports, or stations. What is it that those locations want people to see on what purposes.
Many countries and cities promote them with the most effective ways on their own locations and features. (On the down side of it, the natives form policies to limit the number of travelers to protect their lives) The cities put up historical elements with storytellings or the heaven’s blessed natures to differentiate from others. These strategies of culture and tourism industry often change the local environments by locating high-rise buildings and superficial modern alleys inside the business quarters or meaningless streets named after celebrities, installing cable cars and the highest towers to brag the natural environments.
Recently many visitors, the travelers expect to explore the local life rather than just the site-seeing as foreigners. They pursuit of self-directed experiences and embrace the own world despite the risks of unexpected conditions. It is considered more important to achieve own choices and values to share the native daily life. The travelers have evolved in this aspect.
