부산시립미술관은 국외 미술관이나 단체, 문화예술인들과의 국제적 네트워크를 구축하고 지속적인 교류 활동을 통해 국외의 문화예술을 국내에 소개하는 역할을 수행하고자 지속적으로 노력하고 있다. 한국 외 다른 국가의 문화와 예술에 대한 이해와 배려를 이끌어 낼 수 있는 다양한 활동들과 전시가 지속적으로 필요하다고 본다. 문화교류의 연장선에서 피니쉬 알토전이 북유럽 국가 핀란드에 대한 이해와 공감의 장이 되길 기대한다. The exhibition is largely divided into two parts: Design and Contemporary Art. The Design section presents an overview of the history of Finnish modernism as well as Finnish furniture and crafts that provide a glimpse into the height of the movement. Finnish designs, which have been developed according to the needs of the people, help visualize the close relationship between nature and the Finnish people’s daily lives. Their furniture and crafts have had a significant impact on the quality of life through their functions, while boasting remarkable aesthetic value at the same time. The exhibition was organized in a way that allows the visitors to see the design history of Finland, which is arguably an important part of its cultural heritage, through the works by Finnish designers including Alvar Aalto, Kaj Franck, Tapio Wirkkala, Timo Sarpaneva, Maija Isola, Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi, and Pekka Paikkari.
