Neverland Soundland : Kwon Byungjun - Sound Walk

The Children’s Gallery in Busan Museum of Art presents《Neverland Soundland: Kwon Byungjun - Sound Walk》 of artist Kwon Byungjun that has opened a new horizon in the sound art in Korea as its first exhibition for 2021.

Wide-ranging sounds created by Kwon are conveyed through visual or musical instruments he has invented, and the audience observe his works while listening to them, moving their body and feeling the vibration. Showcased are <Ambisonics Listening Room for Children> offering special sound experiences, <The Wind-bell and Landscape> with a motif from scales of pyeongyeong, <Garden in the Air>, a speaker installation, and <The Song Gestures>, an experiential piece of work. Also, <Forest of subtle truth 4 - Lullabies of Multicultural Family> is exhibited where the audience wear headphones to listen to sounds as they walk around in the outer space of the art museum.

These works are intended to enable children to have hands-on experiences of sound art at the forefront of the contemporary art, and understand the diversity of contemporary art using auditory, visual and other senses. It is expected that children can stretch their imaginations by listening to sounds in the works and interacting with various choreographed displays, and relish the joy of art.
